Selfishness

When boiled down to their very natural fabric, sin is nothing more than a route of selfishness. Each and every move we make in an attempt against God is in an attempt for ourselves, and pushes us away threefold; God, others, and ourselves. I’m constantly being reminded of this in my daily actions, whether they are in line with God, or in line with myself. Just being reminded is not enough. There is an action boiling deep inside of me that screams to cast away the fears of letting myself go, and embrace the act of selflessness. My heart is heavy tonight, but it looks forward in excitement. 

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, ⁴ not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. -Philippians 2:3-4
